Airtel, one of the top telecom service providers in India, has started offering 3G services in the country through 3G USB modems and 3G enabled mobile phones. The tariff plans for 3G service offered by Airtel is tailored to suit the demand of a particular region of India, and hence varies to some degree from a particular city to another. In this article, we are going to discuss various 3G tariff plans offered by Airtel for Bengaluru region.
Before opting for a 3G plan, make sure your handset is 3G enabled. If you want a 3G connection for your PC you can opt for one of the following Airtel 3G modems:
E1731 3G USB Modem: It supports Windows 7, 2000 SP4, Vista, XP sp2/sp3, Mac Osx10.4/5/6 and offers speed up to 7.2 Mbps.
E153 3G USB Modem: It supports Windows 7, 2000 SP4, Vista, XP sp2/sp3, Mac Osx10.4/5/6 and offers speed up to 3.6 Mbps.

Choice of Prepaid Plans:
Sachet - Try out sachet plans are available for Rs 9, Rs60 and Rs 45 only and offers free usage of 10 MB, 65 MB and 30 minutes respectively. The Rs9 and Rs45 sachet plans stay valid for one day and are perfect options if you want to buy a trial 3G plan first. The Rs 60 plan stays valid for 3 days and another good tryout option.
Once you have exhausted your free data usage, the charge for Rs9 and Rs 60 plan would be just like 2G that is 30p/20kb and for Rs 45 plan, the charge of data usage is Rs3/minute.
Standard- Standard plans are available for Rs103, Rs200, Rs450 and Rs750 offering free data usage of 100MB, 250MB, 600MB and 2GB respectively. Standard pack stays valid for 30 days and after you have exhausted your free data usage, the charge is as per 2G that is 30p/20kb.
Flexi Shield - This plan comes for Rs 675 and stays valid for 30 days. With this plan you can enjoy 1.25GB of free data usage. Once 1.25 GB usage is exhausted, you get usage at the rate of 1p/100kb till the bill amount reaches Rs2000. After that you can enjoy free unlimited browsing at 20Kbps speed.

3G Value Pack - This 20 day validity pack costs Rs13 and offers data usage at the rate of 15p/20kb.
Pay as You Go - This flexible prepaid plan offers you unlimited usage at the rate of 30p/20kb.
Post Paid Plans
Standard Plan- Postpaid standard plans are available for Rs100, Rs200, Rs450 and Rs 750. They remain valid for 30 days and offer 100MB, 250MB, 600MB and 2GB of free data usage respectively. Post free data usage; the charge is same as 2G, which is 30p/20Kb.
Flexi Shield: This plan costs Rs 675 and stays valid for 30 days. This plan offers 1.25GB of free data usage and after the free usage is exhausted, the tariff is 1p/100kb till the bill amount touches Rs2000. After that one can enjoy free unlimited browsing at 20Kbps speed.
Following Volume Based charging Packs are available for postpaid as well:
3G Value Pack: This plan costs Rs 20 and data usage costs 15p/20kb. The plan remains valid for 30days.
Pay As You Go- This pack offers unlimited usage at the rate of 30p/20kb.
Video calling on 3G costs 5p/sec for local, STD and roaming.
