Things you need to know before opting for 3G

Before subscribing to an Airtel 3G prepaid plan there are a few things you need to know:
  • You need to check your handset for 3G compatibility. You can do that by going to 3G-Devices page and selecting the manufacturer and model of your handset.
  • You do not need to change your SIM card in order to enjoy Airtel 3G.
  • All prepaidplans/packs work for any 3G enabled devices like handset, dongles and laptops etc.
  • Roaming on 3G is available only on Airtel 3G network.

Choice of Airtel 3G Prepaid Plans

Sachet
If you want to give Airtel 3G a trial run before committing to long-term plan, Sachet plans are ideal for you. They are available for as little as Rs8 and offers validity of one to three days. You can choose from following Sachet plan:
Rs8/10: This plan stays valid for a day and offers 10 MB of free data usage.
Rs 63/65: This 3 day validity plan offers 65 MB of free data usage.
Rs 45: This plan stays valid for one day and offers thirty minutes of free data usage. Post free data usage you need to pay Rs3/min.
For Rs8/10 and Rs63/65 packs, once you reach the limit of free data usage the tariff is same as 2G and you have to pay 30paisa for every 20kb of usage.

Standard
Standard plans are available starting from Rs100 and offer validity of 30 days. Following are the different Standard 3G plans offered by Airtel:
Rs100: It offers 100 MB of free data usage.
Rs 200: This plan offers 250MB of free data usage.
Rs 450: With this plan you can enjoy 600 MB of free data usage.
Rs 750: This plan features 2GB of free usage.
After exhausting the free data usage limit, the charge is same as 2G that is 30paisa/20KB.

Flexi Shield
If you want to opt for a plan that requires minimum starting amount but allows you to enjoy flexible usage with a cap on your bill, Flexi Shield is the plan you are looking for. This flexible plan costs Rs 675 and remains valid for thirty days. With this prepaid plan you can enjoy 1.25GB of free data usage and once the 1.25 GB limit is crossed, you can continue using 3G at 1p/100kb till your billing amount reaches the Rs2000 mark. After that you are offered unlimited browsing at a lower speed of 20Kbps.

Volume Based Prepaid Plans

3G Value Pack - This prepaid pack costs Rs15 and offers validity of 20/21 days. The data usage charge is 15p/20kb.
Pay as You Go - This prepaid plan offers unlimited usage at the rate of 30p/20kb.

Video Calling on 3G prepaid

Video calling on 3G gets activated as soon as 3G is activated on your mobile.3G video calling costs 5paisa/sec for local, STD and roaming. Video calls on 3G are not available for ISD or international roaming.
