Ajmer located in the state of Rajasthan India is a beautiful city surrounded by the Aravalli hills. The Anasagar Lake is a historic man-made lake constructed by Maharaja Anaji the grandfather of Prithviraj Chauhan between 1135 to 1150 AD, and later Emperor Shah Jahan constructed many pavilions called ‘Baradari’ to add to its beauty.
The Ajmer-e-Sharif Dargah an important place for Muslim pilgrims was constructed as a tomb for the Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti and was visited by emperor Akbar once a year to pay homage. The Adhai-Din-Ka Jhonpara a fine example of indo-Islamic architecture was a college for Sanskrit in the 12th century and was later destroyed by Mohamad Ghori and converted to a beautiful Mosque, the mosque is architectural paradise with its beautifully constructed pillars and archways engraved with Khufi and Jughra was taken from the Holy Quran.
