Australian Embassy

An embassy is the head office of foreign relation between two countries. It is also called a diplomatic mission. Embassy is based in the capital city of the host country whereas the consuls are located in different other cities of hosting country. The head of embassy is the ambassador who is a political figure. He/she is the representative of the country in the host nation. All the responsibilities and the work of the embassy and other consulates are looked over by the ambassador. The Australian embassy in India is the center point of foreign terms relation of Australia and India. The Australian embassy or the consulates look up on the matters like administrative, economic, political etc. There are different working branches within the embassy who handle the respective matters.
The main functions of the embassy are:

  • The administrative support staff handles the administrative features of the embassy.
  • The consular officers deal with matters like issuing visas and handling tourists coming from abroad.
  • The political officers are there to look at matters like the political conditions of the hosting country and to provide its home government reports according to that.
  • The economic officers deal with the matters related to trade and commerce, taxes and tariffs.
In India the Australian embassy is in New Delhi and the consulates are in different cities.
