Bhindi masala

Bhindi Masala is a north Indian vegetarian recipe cooked with ladies finger and spices. This is found all over India especially in Punjabi dhabas. Bhindi masala is quite spicy and classified as main course dish eaten during lunch or dinner. This goes well with curd and roti or chapatti. Bhindi masala is also known as okra curry. Bhindi masala has awesome flavour and taste. Bhindi masala recipe does not take more than 25 minutes to prepare this food. It is well accompanied with rice and chapatti. Some people dislike eating okra or lady’s finger but if you can prepare nicely with spices it really become delicious in taste. This vegetable is very healthy.

Ingredients to make Bhindi Masala

Oil - ¼ cup
Chopped onion -1 large
Minced garlic – 10 cloves
Chopped green chilies – 2
Turmeric – 1 tsp
Ground cumin -1 tbsp
Okra – 3 lb
Salt

Procedure to cook Bhindi Masala

Take oil in large pot and heat it. Then add onion, garlic and chilies and fry at medium heat till it becomes brownish colour. Fry again adding turmeric and cumin for 2 minutes. Finally add okra and salt and mix properly. Cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes at simmer. You have to stir in between so that it does not burn at the bottom. The bhindi masala is ready. You can serve hot with plain rice and chapattis.

The method of preparation is very easy. You can try at home. The ingredients are readily available. You can eat it with curd or roti. This combination will enhance the taste of Bhindi masala.
