Application for obtaining Birth Certificate

In India the government has provided with many options for making an application for the Birth Certificate of the person. The application can be made to any of the following offices

• Registrar General, India
• Chief Registrars in States
• District Registrars in village
• Town Registrars in your region

Things needed to apply for Birth Certificate

It is mandatory to register every birth within 21 days. For this you need to fill in the application for the birth certificate in the prescribed format and submit it to the registrar. The authorities will verify the birth with the hospital authorities and then issue the birth certificate.

If due to some reasons if anyone could not apply for the same within 21 days they can apply later but in that case the Birth Certificate is issued only after the inspection and verification by the police authorities.
