PMC claims that they are short of manpower. I am living out of india and my wife is stuck in Pune for not being able to get the certificate for our new born child. Birth certificate is mandatory for passport. I suggest people to go to PCMC zone hospitals for child birth.

This information here is wrong. Birth Certificate in Pune can be got even after 1 month without any different hassle. Take certificate given by hospital to them anytime fill a form they have and submit. Be carefull about Name spelling in Enlish or marathi. this can be done at PMC Kasba or Yerawada PMC offices. Might me some other local PMC ward offices as well.
