The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) established in 1968 is involved in the activities related to the Plastics industries. The functions of CIPET can be broadly classified in to Academics, Technology Support Services, and Research. The 15 campuses of CIPET contribute their services to the plastics industry in India and abroad.

Services Offered
In the Academics category CIPET offers many courses in Plastic and related industries. It gives classroom training, practical training, and has labs and workshops to fulfill the needs of the academics. Consultancy services are also offered by the faculty in CIPET centres. Diploma Programs, Post Diploma Programs, PG Diploma Programs, UG Programs, PG Programs, and Doctoral Programs are available in CIPET. The UG and PG programs of CIPET are affiliated to Anna University Chennai.
Technology Support Services are also provided by CIPET for its clients in the area of Precision Machining, Tooling, CAD/CAM/CAE services, CNC machining, and design and manufacturing of molds. Apart from these it also offers services like Plastic testing, product manufacturing, and consultancy on projects.
Admission to Academic Programs
During the month of July CIPET conducts a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Candidates have to get through that examination to secure an admission for the courses conducted by CIPET.
The fees for the diploma programs are around Rs. 15000 and for the UG programs it is Rs. 25000. For PG Diploma programs it is around Rs. 20000 and for the Masters it is Rs. 30000 for the sponsored candidates. For the open category the fees are little bit lower. Apart from these the candidate securing admission would have to spend on hostel fees and boarding.
