Chetan Sharma was a legendary indian pace bowler from punjab. He was born on 3rd January 1966 in ludhiana,Punjab. Despite being short in height, Chetan Sharma was one of the quickest pace bowlers in india.
Chetan Sharma played his first class cricket when he was only 16.He made his first class debut for haryana.He made his ODI debut the very next year. He played more ODI's than tests. He made his test debut against Pakistan in lahore in 1984.Sharma was handy with the bat too. His records are a proof of this. He played 23 tests and took 61 wickets. In tests he averaged a decent 22.00 with the bat. In ODI's sharma scored 456 runs in 65 matches at an average of 24.00. He took 67 wickets in ODI's.
There are a number of highpoints in sharma's career. Sharma was the first indian to take a 10 wickect haul in england. He was an important member of the test side that beat england 2-0 in their home ground. In the world cup 1987, sharma made an unusual record of getting a hattrick by bowling out new zealand's Ken Rutherford, Ian Smith and Ewen Chatfield of three consecutive deliveries. It was the competition's only hattrick.
