The College of engineering and Management located in the Thermal power in Kolaghat which is a small town about 57 KM away from the city of Kolkata was founded in 1998 by prof Shankar Sen, it covers an area of about 26.925 acres and is one of the leading engineering institutes of the state. The programmes are for 4years and on successful completion students get a degree from the West Bengal University of Technology; all courses of the institute are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education, in New Delhi.
Some of the courses offered by the Institute are a B Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. The college is one of the best in the region because of its infrastructure providing the best and latest methods of teaching and on hand training to the students in their various fields, the laboratories are well equipped and the staff are well experienced to handle all situations, thus the college provides a very strong base for their students to excel in their fields of science and technology chosen as a career path and being located at the power plant is an added bonus as students get hand on knowledge on the working of systems.
The institute also has a well maintained library which is always the best place to research on subjects and promises to find study matter on all fields of research.
The annual fest of the Institute is called SPANDA and is held in February.
