Deekshabhoomi Express runs from Nagpur to Gaya in Bihar. Both these cities are very important symbols of Buddhism. Gaya was the place where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment and Nagpur was the place where Dr. Ambedkar, the tallest Dalit leader in India accepted Deeksha to Buddhism. A stupa now stands on the place where he took Deeksha. That is the reason why this train has been named as the Deekshabhoomi Express.
