The Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University was formed in the year 1971 and comes under the control of the Madurai Kamaraj University. With a student strength of 1.2 lakhs it has 38 spot admission centres across the country and about 93 study centres in the country. There are about 15 study centres outside India. The University is awarded the status of “University with Potential for Excellence”. This prestigious status is awarded to only 8 other universities in the country.

Applications for Courses offered

Applications for all the courses can be got in person in the University on payment of Rs. 100 or through post on payment of Rs. 150. If the application is requested by post the letter has to be sent to the “The Director, D.D.E., Madurai Kamaraj University, Palkalai Nagar, Madurai - 625 021.” The application fee has to be sent in the form of DD in favor of “The Director, DDE, MKU" payable at Madurai. For all courses a registration fee has to be paid along with the application form submitted. For MBA the registration fee is Rs. 250 and for MCA the registration fee is Rs. 150. For all other courses the registration fee is Rs. 100.
