Documents required for Indian Passport are as follows,
For New Passport
For new passport the following documents are required,
- New passport application form
- Two passport size photographs
- Address proof
- Educational qualification certificates photocopy
- Date of birth proof
- Notary for tatkal (only for tatkal scheme)
- An urgency letter for tatkal (only for tatkal scheme)
The documents required are as follows,

- The police certificate(FIR) and receipt
- Address proof (old passport photocopy if available)
- Educational qualification certificates photocopy
- Date of birth proof
- Notary for loss of passport(another notary is required if applying for tatkal)

For Renewal of Passport
For renewal of passport the following documents are required,
- Passport renewal application form
- Two passport size photographs
- Old passport (if unable to submit should mention the reason)
- Address proof
- Educational qualification certificates photocopy
- Date of birth proof
- Notary for tatkal (only for tatkal scheme)
- An urgency letter for tatkal (only for tatkal scheme)
For Indian Passport Processing Time would be as follows,
For fresh passport
For issuing a fresh passport it will take 6 – 8 weeks time. If applied under tatkal scheme it will take 1 – 2 weeks of time.
For Reissue
For reissue of Indian passport it will take 4 -6 weeks of time. If applied under tatkal scheme it will take around 1 – 2 weeks of time.
If you are a busy person and cannot do the follows of your passport application frequently, then it is better to approach a travel agent. It may cost a few bucks more but its worth.

For passports you
For passports you require:-
1) Proof of date of birth:
a)If born before 26.01.1989, then birth certificate or 10th pass certificate is required.
b)If born on or after 26.01.1989, only birth certificate is to be submitted (mandatory).
2) Proof of residence:
Statement of running bank account, DL, provided that they mention your current residential address(many more are there, but I am not mentioning others as you have a bank account and DL).Note that Ration card is not mandatory.
3) Educational qualification for ECNR:
10th and BSc certificate.
4)If you are a Government/Public Sector/Statutory Body employee, then attach Anx. B (refer Passport information booklet) as Identity certificate. Employees of Private Sector are not required to submit this.
5) Standard Affidavit as in Anx. I (refer Passport information booklet).
These are the only required documents that are needed to be submitted. PAN card is not necessary. I hope you get your passport soon.
