Dr.Ambedkar University Chennai got establishment in October 1997 under the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University Act 1996, an Act passed by the Assembly of Tamil Nadu
The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
The TNDALU offers admission in five Government Law Colleges, University Law College at Chengalpattu and one private Law College at Salem.

Dr.Ambedkar University, Chennai Admission Procedure:

Selection is on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the Entrance Examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai and communal reservation and special reservations prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

• Candidates will be examined in:
a. General Knowledge, and
b. Aptitude for Legal Studies
• Question papers will be set both in English and Tamil language.
• The question paper will consist of 100 objective type questions for a maximum of 100 marks.
• The duration of TNDALU examination will be 2 hours.
• There is negative marking of 0.125 marks for each wrong answer.

B.A., B.L., (Hons.) DEGREE COURSE)

Dr.Ambedkar University, Chennai Eligiblity:

For 3 year B.L. Degree Course
• A pass in the Bachelor’s Degree Course with minimum 40% of marks in aggregate.
• Candidates who have passed the Post-Graduate Degree under Open University system without undergoing the Bachelor’s Degree Course may also apply.
• There is No age limit for admission into this course.
• Employed candidates are not eligible to apply.

For 5 year B.L. Degree Course
• A pass in the Higher Secondary (+2) or Equivalent Examination with minimum 45% of marks in aggregate. In the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, 40% of marks in aggregate.
• Those who have appeared for the HSC or equivalent examination in the year of TNDALU entrance examination and awaiting results may also apply.
• Employed candidates are not eligible to apply.
• Age limit for admission: A candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st June of the year of TNDALU entrance examination. There is no age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST communities.
