ECR Chennai

ECR is the East Coastal Road in Chennai which runs parallel to the Bay of Bengal from Chennai City to the Indian Union Territory Pondicherry. This is one of the roads in Chennai where you are permitted to travel with 100 Km/ Hr.

ECR length and speed limit

The road starts from Thiruvanmiyur and runs till Uthandi. The road is also famous among the young couples who enjoy the bliss of riding in a two wheeler with their beloved ones along the coast side. On the other end, the road experiences most of the road accidents in Chennai.

ECR Chennai Beauty & places to visit:

When you travel along this road, you would be able to enjoy the nature and coastal breeze along with the fisherman villages seen in between. Speed lovers love to use this road for testing their bike speeds and their abilities here and there are daily stories of riders caught by the cops in this road, most of them are youngsters.

There are important places of visit in this ECR Chennai road side including some amusement parks, Theaters. It includes

Marundeeshwarar Temple: A very famous temple of Lord Siva. The history and belief here is that the lord cures any type of disease.

Thiruvidanthai: One of the important places of all vaishnavites, It has the NithyaKalyana Perumal Temple. The history and belief of this temple explains when the girl comes around this temple with a flower garland around her neck with beliefs, she would soon be get married if she is struggling to find the match for a long time.

Muttukadu: This is a place with back water area 23 kilometers from Adyar, maintained by Tamil Nadu Tourism Corporation. You can enjoy speed boating, water skiing here.

Dakshin Chitra: This is a must see place which showcases the various south Indian cultures maintained by a nonprofit organization called Madras Culture Foundation. It is around 25 Kms from Thiruvanmiyur in the ECR Road. The different house types of the four different states explained and showcased here.

Madras Crocodile Bank: This is a place of herpetology. There is lot of endangered species of reptiles preserved in this bank. Students take up educational tours from Chennai City to this place.

Pondicherry: The ECR Road ends in Pondicherry, Pondicherry is the oldest French colony in India and it has the world famous Sri Aurobindo Ashram.

There are amusement parks like MGM Dizze World, VGP Universal Kingdom and Theatre complexes like Prarthana Drive in, Mayajaal Multiplex Complex and other famous resorts like Blue Lagoon, Green Meadows Resort in this very famous ECR Road, Chennai.
