Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is a state owed insurance policy which is provided to labors and small scale industry workers and their dependent. Individual can get medical care and cash resistance for any kind physical problem that arises during work. By this scheme dependent of the worker who has died during the work will be getting entire money assistant. It helps the workers in India to be independent and safe during and after work. Every employer working in any public sector faces some or the other health problem lie sickness, disability etc. So at this time both the victim and family face the problem. To help them in such situation ESIC is being formulated.
ESIC was inaugurated in the year 24th Feb 1952 by the hands of the Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru at Delhi. And since the launch of this scheme, there is no looking back and has helped any labors and depends in money assistance and other social help.

  • The major benefits from ESIC are the medical benefit that the worker and the dependant can get money assistance. This benefit includes sickness benefit and extended sickness benefit.
  • It also offers disability benefit and also maternity benefit for the individual and family.
  • There is also Dependent Benefit which is provided right after the death of the employee. This benefit includes funeral expense and confinement expense.

Apart from providing the above mentioned benefits, this provision also offers schemes like Vocational Rehabilitation, Physical Rehabilitation and Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Kalyan Yojana. In these schemes employers can be benefited by money assistance due to closure of factory or company, physical disability and also vocational training are being provided to upgrade the skills in specific industrial area.
With the establishment of this ESIC many labors working in factory or any public sector company have been benefited including their family.
