History of Filmfare
Filmfare is one of the leading tabloid magazines having its contents based on Indian cinema. It is very popular entertainment package enjoyed by the Indians here and in overseas .The group is also the sponsor of well known Filmfare awards. In fact, it is very popular among Urban Indian youth and film-savvy society. The Times Group, that is India’s biggest media company, having their head office in V.T., Mumbai, highlights the happenings of bollywood. It’s the oldest Indian magazine and so are its awards. It was the part of The Times Group. But in 2005 it split into subsidiary. Now in a joint venture of 50-50 in between the TIMES GROUP and BBC MAGAZINES called as WORLDWIDE MEDIA are the new owners. In the year 2008 the magazine underwent a huge change in its publishing style and the looks. These changes were brought under the editorship of JITESH PILLAI who updated its sections and layout.
“Filmfare Awards” for Hindi films and “Filmfare Awards South” for Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam movies are also given by this group in the field of filmy excellence.
