GATE ( Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering)

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is conducted jointly by all six IITs and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for taking admissions into M.Tech /M.E. programs in various specializations.

GATE Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates holding bachelor degree in engineering / technology / architecture / pharmacy are eligible for appearing in GATE. However, final year graduation students in above fields are also eligible to apply but they are required to degree and other essential documents asked by National Co-coordinating Board, GATE.
  • Candidates who are presently studying in 2nd , 3rd, 4th year of 4 year integrated degree program in field of engineering & technology and candidates who are studying in 3rd , 4th , 5th year of 5 year integrated degree programs are eligible to apply in GATE.
  • Candidates holding Masters degree in field of Computer applications / Statistics / allied Sciences / mathematics are eligible to apply in GATE.

GATE Selection Procedure: GATE exam is an objective type (multiple choice questions) exam of 3 hours duration, total 150 marks on single subject selected by candidate which is relevant to his Graduation.
Negative marking will be applied. Language of exam will be English.

Based on GATE merit list , candidates will get their percentile scores ( GATE score) . candidates’s having less than 70 percentile will not be given any score card. This GATE score card will be valid for 2 years period. Based on his percentile score, candidate’s will get chance to get admission in M.Tech / M.E. program in IITs , Roorkie and other institutes and they will receive monthly stipend also . Most of the institutes gives first priority of GATE qualified students.
