The Government Engineering College is situated at Shayog Nagar in Bhuj in Kutch in Gujarat. It is also popularly known as GEC and was established in the year 1994. It is affiliated to Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Varma Kachchh University, Bhuj and is approved by AICTE. The trust that manages this institute is the Directorate of Technical Education, Gujarat State.
The admission to the college is made through AIEEE and the entrance examination conducted by the state.
Courses Offered at Government Engineering College
The College offers four years Undergraduate Course in three different streams which include Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mining. The college does not offer any Post Graduate program. The total number of student’s intake in the various courses is as per the limit mentioned by AICTE. Usually the intake is 53 in Mechanical Engineering and 60 in Electrical Engineering.
Infrastructure at Government Engineering College
The College is spread over a wide campus of 16 acres of land which includes many buildings like lecture theatres, library, Sport Complex; staff Quarters, Rectors and Principals bungalow. There are also Vocational Disaster Management and Basics of Earthquake Science. There are separate hostels for Boys and Girls.

The placement cell organizes interviews with active mining and core mechanical Companies and also arranges seminars. Companies like Ratnamani Metals & Tubes Ltd., Kachchh, Antai Balaji Ltd., Kachchh, Asia Motors Ltd., Kaniabe, and Ta: Bhuj, Suzlon Energy Pvt. Ltd., Bhachau, Mundra International Container Terminal, Mundra, Infosys, Satyam Computers, Wipro Industries and many other visits the campus.
