Changing name on a debit card is very common with us and the procedure is also very simple. Anybody, anytime may require to change his/her name on the debit card but the purpose may be different.
Commonly there can be three instances to change name in debit card.
1. Wrong name has been printed on the debit card.
2. An individual has changed his name.
3. In case of marriage of a female.
Wrong name has been printed on the debit card.
In the first case where the wrong name has been printed by the bank officials the bank authorities needs to be informed about it. The card has to be returned to the bank and a new card will be issued by the bank authorities for the applicant.
An individual has changed his name.
1.The individual needs to go to a civil court and get hold of a legal clerk.
2.The legal clerk will make an affidavit and charge a fee for the same.
3.The affidavit needs to be signed by the magistrate.
4.Once the magistrate has signed the affidavit a newspaper needs to publish the news. The news article would state the fact that the individual has changed his name and the article would state the new name and the old name of the individual.
5.The affidavit needs to be submitted to the bank where the bank will change the name of the individual on the bank account and also give the individual a new debit card according to his name.
In case of marriage of a female.
1.In case of marriage the individual needs to produce the marriage certificate and husband’s passport copy before the civil court.
2.A joint notarized deceleration is filed by the lady and her husband. The deceleration states the old name of the lady and the changed name after marriage. The affidavit also carries the joint photograph of the lady and her husband.
3.The notarized affidavit and the marriage certificate when shown to the bank will help the lady to change her name in the bank and a new debit card will be issued to her.
