Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IIS Bangalore) is a unique institute concerned with research in frontier areas and education in current technologically important areas. The Institute was the vision of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and ultimately it came into being as a tripartite venture between the Tatas, the Government of India, and the Government of Maharaja of Mysore.

History of IISc

Indian institute of science is located in# bangalore,indian state of karnataka. IISC was established in year 1909. It was initially planned in 1896. IISc is conceived as research institute By jamshedji nusserwanji tata. Later in year 1904 J.N. Tata unfortunately passed away.

Concept of IISc was originally planned on a voyage to U.S by J.N. TATA and SWAMI VIVEKANANDA. This leads IISC one of the prestigious institute in india.

Ranking: IISC is ranked no.1 by "JOURNAL CURRENT SCIENCE" and ranked 400 worldwide.

How to Reach IISC Bangalore: IISc is about 35kms from the bangalore inter national airport. One could take either a prepaid taxi currently, costs Rs. 850. The Institute is known as "Tata Institute" to the locals. The city railway station is about 7 kms from IISc campus. Majestic bus station (7.5kms from IISc) is the central Bus stand in Bangalore which is just opposite to the City Railway station.From platform no.22 of bus stand almost all buses visits the campus.

IISc Bangalore Admission Procedure:

For getting admission into IISc Bangalore M.E. /M.Tech programs, one has to undertake GATE examination, followed by a personal interview. The cutoff required for getting admission into M.E. /M.Tech is usually higher than 99 percentile.

IISc offers admissions into:

1.Research program - Doctoral (Ph D) and Master’s (M Sc
[Engg]) in 30 departments/ centres/ units. In addition, a doctoral (Ph D) program is available in 4 inter disciplinary areas. 2.Course program - (ME/M Tech/M Des) in 16 disciplines: 3.Integrated Ph D program in 4 disciplines:
