IIT Kharagpur

The first Indian Institute of Technology, established in 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur, is situated about 120 km west of Calcutta.

The name Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur was adopted in August 1950. The foundation stone of the new institute was laid by Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and was inaugurated by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.
In addition to the main campus at Kharagpur, the IIT Kharagpur has two extension campuses one at Calcutta and another at Bhubaneshwar.

Admission Procedure:

Admission to these programmes is made once a year in July through a Joint Entrance Examination conducted on an All India level in April/May. The IIT Kharagpur admission council accepts the percentile score / rank obtained by a candidate as a basic standard to call a candidate for Interview / Group Discussion / Counselling, etc.

Eligiblity:

At least 55% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General category candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST.

Cutoffs & Aggregate Cutoffs:-

1. Subject-wise cutoffs : Individual subject cutoffs have been determined on the basis that top 80% candidates qualify in each subject. The cutoff marks for the three subjects for General Category are:

2. Aggregate cutoff for the Common Merit List is 172. Aggregate cutoff was determined to declare the required no. of candidates (1.15 times the number of seats available) qualified:
