Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) is basically located at the outskirt of beautiful Jalpaiguri Town in the state of West Bengal. It was commissioned in the year 1961 with a sole objective of providing quality engineering education to the potential and dynamic young students in the region at affordable prices. Since its inception it has achieved several landmarks in the fields of engineering studies and trainings and is today referred to as one of the most premier engineering institute in the eastern India.

Affiliation

During its initial stage of operation JGEC was first affiliated to the Calcutta University. Then during the year 1963 till the year 1999, the college was affiliated to the University of North Bengal. After that the affiliation of the institute was transferred to the West Bengal University of Technology, founded under the West Bengal University of Technology Act, 2000.

Courses offered

The College offers Bachelor degrees (B.Tech) in six branches that include Electrical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical engineering. It also offers two important Master degrees (M.Tech) to the aspiring students.

The Training and Placement Cell

JGEC has a world class Training and Placement Cell for its students that have a wonderful record of providing placement to its students in reputed companies like Larsen and Turbo (ECC division), IBM, Wipro, Tata Consultancy services, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant Technology solutions, Haldi Petrochemicals, Bluestar and host of other companies.

This placement cell is one of the USP of JGEC and it in collaboration with the Cognizant Technology Solutions Kolkata provides soft skill trainings and personality development trainings to the engineering trainees of the JGEC.
