Kendriya Vidyalaya in Indore comes under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan, Bhopal Region. Out of the 61 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools of Madhya Pradesh three are in Indore and two of them are in the main city Indore. The Kendriya Vidyalaya schools in Indore as Known as Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Indore and Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Indore. The third Kendriya Vidyalaya School in Indore is Kendriya Vidyalaya Mhow, which is not in the main city but it is within Indore district.

As all other Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools, Kendriya Vidyalaya Indore is also affiliated to the CBSE Board. They maintain uniformity in syllabus and examination schedule. 1) Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Indore was established in 1964 and is known as one of the oldest Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools in India. Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Indore provides education up to Junior college is Science, Commerce and Humanities stream

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Indore students are participating in project Thinkquest with Internet facilities in school. The school has appointed best coaches to provide special coaching to students in sports such as Badminton, Table Tennis and Football enabling students to emerge as winners in various State, National, and S.G.F.I. level tournaments. 2) Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 Indore since 1986 is working in the chain of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan Schools. It is a co-educational school providing education up to std 12th in science and commerce streams. The school to develop the overall personality of students has planned its activities in all fields such as classroom lessons, sports, co- curricular activities etc.

As in every Kendriya Vidyalaya School the students of this school are also trained as NCC cadets, Scouts and Guides. The school has infrastructure provided with Classrooms, Library, Science and Computer Labs, Activity rooms, Music rooms, Arts Room, First Aid room, play ground etc. The school encourages students to participate in various creative events and National and Mini Sports Meet that are organized every year.
