Kolkata Police Detective Department

The Kolkata Police Detective Department, as the name suggests, is the department of police who are in charge of spotting the crime in the city and taking measures to curb it. The Deputy Commissioner is the head of the department and is aided by a Deputy Commissioner DD II. The department consists of a number of sectors, each focusing on a particular type of crime.

The various sectors of this department include-
The Homicide Squad, The Anti-Dacoity and Robbery Squad, The Anti-Burglary Squad, The Anti-Snatching Squad, The Watch Section, The Anti-Motor theft Squad, The Immoral Traffic Section, The Anti Cheating section, The Anti-Fraud Section, The Anti-Note Forgery Section, The Special cell, The Bomb Squad, The Missing Persons Squad, The Women Grievance Cell, The Narcotic cell, The Cyber Crime Cell, The Press Section, The Antique Theft Section, The Anti-Terrorist Cell, The Anti-Bank Fraud and The Wildlife and Environmental Wing.

Apart from these major departments there are also supportive sections.
These are-
The Criminal Record Section, Dog Squad, Bomb Disposal Squad, Scientific Wing, Finger and Footprint Squad, Photography Section, Plan-Making Section, Library, Reserve Office, Motor Transport Section, Malkhana, Central Malkhana, Law Section, Family Counseling Centre, Technical Wing and Alcohol and Drug Victims, where there are special officers who help people with addictions and provide counselors who offer suggestions of rehabilitation.
All these sections combine to give the city security and aid whenever it is required. The people here work day and night so that the residents of Kolkata can enjoy a peaceful existence.
