There are several branches that make up the Police Department. The Enforcement branch is one of the most important ones. The Deputy Commissioner of Police is at the apex in this department and it is symbolized by the colours black and orange.
This department covers a wide range of duties. It is in charge of identifying and curbing commercial crimes. It also has the duty of upholding the law and making sure there is order as far as goods of necessity are concerned. This department also checks the circulation of counterfeit drugs and investigates places, they fear, making or selling of such items takes place. Tarnishing of food articles and illegal smuggling of any kinds of commodities are also crimes that are dealt with by this department. Tax evasions are checked, again, by this very department and they even have the responsibility of taking legal action against anyone who is found living outside the law.
Apart from their array of obligations the officers in this department also engage in various forms of beneficial work for the betterment of the society. They carry out regular constraint programs against beggars and vagabonds and suggest numerous measures for their removal or rehabilitation.
The sections in this department include-
The Food and Forest Cell, Fuel Cell, Vigilance Cell, Special Cell and Enforcement Branch Sub-Control.
The Enforcement Branch is important as it curbs and controls all the crimes in the neighbourhood. It provides security to residents and keeps the environment safe and hygienic.
