LPG is Liquefied petroleum gas which is a mixture of hydrocarbon gases.LPG is used in motor fuels, refrigeration, cooking, etc. 17.5% Indian households LPG gas as cooking fuel according to 2001 census of India. But the urban people used it as the rural could not afford the prices. In Hong Kong it was the most popular cooking fuel but it subsequently reduced to 24% due of expansion to town gas to buildings. For the urban Brazilian households it is the most common cooking gas.
LPG gas prices in India are very fluctuating; it is the reason why the demand for LPG gas has gone down. The Petrol Ministry of India that is Murli Deora explained the prices of domestic gas is lowest in South Asia while in the neighbor countries it is higher. He has decided to reduce the prices of diesel, cooking gas, petrol are to be reduced. The prices of petrol may be reduced by Rs.5 per litre, diesel prices by Rs.3 per litre and cooking gas (LPG) prices may be cut by Rs.20-25 per cylinder.
The LPG gas price in India is one of the major concerns for some years. Previously also the prices of petrol were cut off by Rs.5 and the prices of diesel were cut off by Rs. 2 per liter. Though it was able to bring down the prices it was not reduced up to that limit.
On previous June the prices of LPG was hiked by Rs. 50. Such measures were taken by the government to protect oil marketing firms against losses following hike in crude prices.
LPG gas prices in India (some parts):
1.LPG in Delhi costs Rs 35.76 per litre as against Rs 34.78, according to an Indian Oil official due to the raise of prices.
2.In Mumbai the price raised to Rs 35.68 from Rs 34.61 per litre.
3.In Kolkata the hike was Rs 1.04 to Rs 37.66 per litre.
4.The LPG gas prices in Chennai were raised by 2.8 per cent to Rs 38.13 per litre.
This is the scenario of some parts of India after the effects of LPG gas prices.
