MTNL has launched 3G services called MTNL 3G Jadoo Services and one can enjoy the magical 3G world using MTNL 3G data card or 3G enabled mobiles. Existing MTNL and dolphin users residing in Mumbai can enjoy 3G service without changing their SIM or numbers and seamless 3G network is available spanning Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. In this article we will discuss different 3G prepaid and postpaid plans available to Mumbaikars and methods of activating 3G for existing and new MTNL customers.
Before subscribing to an MTNL 3G plan, check your handset for 3G compatibility. There is no need to change your SIM card or your number in order to avail MTNL 3G Jadoo service.
HSDPA Data Card
MTNL offers HSDPA 3G data card, which can be used with your 3G enabled devices like laptop, netbooks etc. You can get Micromax MMX300G data card along with MTNL prepaid 3G kit for Rs 3499. You can also opt to buy a compatible data card from open market and then avail a prepaid or postpaid 3G data plan from MTNL.
To activate HSDPA prepaid service, follow steps mentioned below:
• Buy any SIM kit with talk value of Rs475. If you already have a SIM make sure your talk balance is equal to or greater than Rs 475.
• Send SMS ‘Act HSDPA’ to 444.
• Existing Trump customer need to recharge their account to maintain a talk time balance of Rs475 or above and then send SMS ‘ACT HSDPA’ to 444.
Please note that Rs 475 will be deducted from your account balance and you will get lifetime HSDPA validity along with 475mb free data usage for 1 month. You can opt for any prepaid data coupons available and continue to enjoy 3G.
To activate HSDPA postpaid service, follow below mentioned steps:
• Opt for any Dolphin plan. You will be charged a security deposit of Rs500 and activation charge Rs449 would added to your next monthly bill. You can opt for any of the postpaid data plan.
• Existing Dolphin customers can dial toll-free 1503 or SMS ‘ACT HSDPA’ to 555. Activation charge of Rs 449 will be added to the next monthly bill.
MTNL 3G Jadoo Prepaid Plans
3G is included in all new Trump connections and you can enjoy MTNL 3G Jadoo with any of the following plans:
SIM 10 with FRC91, SIM 10 with FRC 145 and SIM 10 with FRC 301: With these prepaid plans all call and SMS tariff remains as per your prepaid plans. Video calls 1p/2sec for MTNL network and 1p/sec for other network and STD video calling.
SIM 10 with FRC 53, SIM 10 with FRC 62, SIM 40 with FRC 299 and SIM 80 with FRC 29: These plans offer all tariffs but video calling as per your prepaid plan. Video calling costs 20p/min within MTNL network, 50p/min for other network and 75p/min for STD.
SIM 75: This plan offers local video calling at 90p/min and STD video calling costs Rs 1.30/min. All other charges remain as per your prepaid plan.
For all of the above plans, ISD video calling costs Rs30/min and mobile data usage is charged at 1p/10kb.
Existing prepaid customers have been enabled for 3G video calling and they can SMS to 444 to avail 3G data usage. With Standard prepaid plans, video calling costs Rs1.80/min within MTNL network, Rs3/min for other network and Rs3.75/min for STD. With Pay Per Second plan video calling costs 1p/2sec within MTNL network and 1p/sec for other networks and STD. For both plans ISD video calls are charged Rs30/min.
3G Data Coupons
You can choose any of the following data coupons to suit your data data usage need:
3G 99: Costs Rs 99 and offers 130MB of free data usage.
3G 250: Costs Rs250 and features 500MB of free data usage and 25 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
3G 450: Costs Rs450 and offers 1GB of free data usage along with 50 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
3G 750: By paying Rs750 you can enjoy 2GB of free data usage and 75 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
3G 2500: Costs Rs2500 and 25GB free data usage and 150 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
All of the above plans stay valid for 30 days and you need to maintain a minimum balance of Rs25 in order to browse or download anything.
Post Paid Tariffs
New customers can avail 3G by following below mentioned steps:
• Subscribe to any 2G Dolphin plan
• Dial toll-free 1503 or send SMS ‘ACT 3G’ to 555.
• For data usage select any available data plan.
Existing Dolphin customers can activate 3G service by dialing toll-free 1503 or sending an SMS ‘Act 3G’ to 555.
All voice calls and SMS are charged as per the existing Dolphin plan. Video calls are charged 60p/min within local MTNL network and 90p/min for other networks or STD. ISD video calls cost RS30/min.
3G Postpaid Data Plans
3G 99: Fixed charge Rs 99/month and offers 130MB of free data usage.
3G 250: Costs Rs250/month and features 500MB of free data usage and 50 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
3G 450: Costs Rs450 and offers 1GB of free data usage along with 100 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
3G 750: By paying Rs750 you can enjoy 2GB of free data usage and 150 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
3G 2500: Costs Rs2500 and 25GB free data usage and 300 minutes of free local video call within MTNL network.
Roaming Tariff for Video Calls
While on roaming incoming video calls cost Rs1.80/min for incoming calls, Rs3/min for outgoing local calls and Rs 4/min for STD calls. Mobile internet usage is charged 1p/10kb.
