The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is known as world’s largest corporation by providing service to more than 13.7 residents in Delhi. This corporation was established in the 1958, under the Parliament Act. It plays a major role in providing better civic facilities for residents of Delhi. It also played an important role in the betterment of Delhi infrastructure. It also conducts the infrastructure work with other two bodies New Delhi Municipal Corporation and Cantonment Board.
There are 12 zones that come under MC of Delhi. Those are Central, South, Karol Bagh, Sardar Paharganj, West, Civil Lines, Shahdara, Rohini, Narela and Nagafgarh. There are different departments which this corporation has to work on including health, tax, engineering, complaints, licensing, horticulture and community.
In health department, this corporation has started its own moment named, “Sarve Santu Nirmaya”. According to which they will be providing complete healthcare facilities for Delhi residents. There are 5o dispensaries, 5 primitive centers and 6 hospitals.
In taxation department, the main role is to levy tax on residents of Delhi on various areas like property tax, vehicle tax, theater tax, advertisement tax, and tax on building. Every year it fixes tax through its annual budget.
In engineering department, it undertakes the role of building flyovers, roads, bridges that can be part of developing Delhi infrastructure. Apart from it, in complaint department it solves all the problems which Delhi residents face. These complaints are being taken by Zonal Deputy Commissioner and Additional Commissioner.
In license department, one can get license for running any unit in any of the Delhi area. The horticulture department, officials helps in making the Delhi Green and has the responsibility of maintaining gardens and parks. There are various community centers built by Municipal Corporation of Delhi in different zones.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has changed the face of Delhi by providing good facilities for residents of city.
