Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (VNIT), named after the great engineer, statesman & visionary of modern India and Bharat Ratna Awardee M. Visvesvaraya, was established in June 1960 by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra. The institute has been conferred with a status of deemed university by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) in 2002.

==NIT Nagpur Admission Procedure==:
Admission to the undergraduate programs is based on the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination [AIEEE] conducted by the Central Board Of Secondary Education (C B S E ) New Delhi.

NIT Nagpur Eligibility:

• The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.
• The number of attempts which the candidate can avail at All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination shall be limited to 03(three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years.

NIT Nagpur Hostel:

There are seven Boys Hostels and two Girls Hostels. Each hostel is having telephone, T.V., Sports Items, water coolers, water heaters and well equipped mess facilities. It is mandatory for hostel inmates to join the mess in his / her hostel managed by committee of students' representatives. All hostels are having independent mess where vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are available.
