The National Institute of Technology Patna (NITP) is the eighteenth National Institute created,by the Ministry of Human Resources Development. This institute is in the process of achieving the status of a centre of excellence to impart higher training research and development in Science,Engineering & Technology. The institution was declared National Institute of Technology on January 28, 2004 and known as “National Institute of Technology Patna”.

NIT Patna Admission Procedure:

Admission to the undergraduate programs is based on the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination [AIEEE] conducted by the Central Board Of Secondary Education (C B S E ) New Delhi.

NIT Patna Eligibility:

• The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.
• The number of attempts which the candidate can avail at All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination shall be limited to 03(three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years.

NIT Patna Hostel:

The institute provides residential facilities to students through three boy's hostels and one girl's hostel. At present Institute provides 29.37% only hostel facility for boys and girls both.
Each hostel provides a central mess facility and 24 hours uninterrupted water and electricity supply.

NIT Patna Campus

The Institute campus is spread over 36 acres of land . The institute has play ground where many National level football and cricket matches have been arranged in the past when Patna had no stadium. The extra curricular activities include facilities for outdoor & indoor games, boating & rowing, open air theatre and availability of the local chapter of SPICMACAY. While banking facility is available in campus, Post-office and shopping centers are in the near vicinity.
