The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar is situated near the famous Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar. It is close to Dal Lake which is major tourist attraction of Kashmir. The institute was started in 1960 under government’s first 5 year plan as Regional Engineering College (REC), Srinagar. The government has decided to bestow REC, Srinagar with “Deemed University” status and also renaming it as National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar
NIT Srinagar Admission Procedure:
Admission to the undergraduate programs is based on the rank obtained in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination [AIEEE] conducted by the Central Board Of Secondary Education (C B S E ) New Delhi.
NIT Srinagar Eligibility:
• The minimum academic qualification for admission through AIEEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent referred to as the qualifying examination.
• The number of attempts which the candidate can avail at All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination shall be limited to 03(three) uniformly for all the candidates in consecutive years.

BRANCH ELECTRICAL 2008-2012.
BUT ,en spite of all these good things our college is not coming in TOP 100, because govt officials is paying attention to their vote banks only.. And Student is joining private colleges by seeing TOP -100 college list.But do not know the real fact. Initially i also do not about all these things. BUT today. I know very well that my college is better then THAPPAR,NIRMA DHIRUBHAI AMBANI and many other private colleges who assured only 100% placement.Than Why ranking teams are not evaluating our college for top 50.Because it can be 100% in TOP 50.

the bad reputation of nit
the bad reputation of nit srinagar is because of the mind of the people which are currupted .They are more foccused on on their relegion rather than studies .But i think there is no problem over there as far cunsult for studies.I think it is the most safest states for all because of the CRPF over here.
