NLSIU (National Law School of India University) Bangalore is one of the premier law schools of India. NLSIU is an autonomous institution with a "Deemed University" status from the UGC. The institute came into existence in 1987. A large number of retired Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts as well as Senior Advocates have offered to assist the NLSIU in its teaching and research programmes.
NLSIU Bangalore Admission Procedure:
COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST Admission to the First Year of the 5-year B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) Degree Programme is made strictly on merit, based on a Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
NLSIU Bangalore Eligiblity:
A candidate for admission to the Degree Course shall have: 1. passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent examination thereto securing in the aggregate not less than 50% of the total marks in all the core subjects and English language put together ; and 2. not completed 20 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission. Provided in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, the maximum age limit shall be 22 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.
NLSIU Bangalore INTAKE AND RESERVATION:
The intake capacity for the Degree Program shall ordinarily be eighty (80) with the following reservations: 1. Scheduled Caste: 15% 2. Scheduled Tribe: 7.5% 3. Foreign Nationals: 5 seats (SAARC and other Developing Countries)

NLSIU Bangalore Hostels:
The National Law School is a residential University with all its 500 odd students living on campus. From the second year, men have the option of triple seater rooms. Women have a choice of twin seaters, in addition to the triple seater rooms. There are also a few single rooms available in both hostels usually given to students in the final year. All rooms have a cot, cupboard, chair and desk. Students are advised to bring their own mattresses, curtains and bed-linen.
NLSIU Bangalore Campus:
The University is fully residential, with complete residential facilities for students and staff. The campus had its first building in 1992 and today it has a main academic block, a distance education block, three Halls of Residence each for men and women, one post- graduate women's hostel, staff quarters and a well equipped training centre with residential facilities for participants participating in the training programs.
NLSIU Bangalore Internships and Placements:
Recruitment is managed completely by students. Each outgoing batch elects a Recruitment Co-ordination Committee (RCC) from amongst its own students, which networks with advocates, law firms and companies interested in recruiting NLSIU students. The recruitment process has so far unfailingly enjoyed a 100 % success rate, and in recent years has even attracted major foreign recruiters.
