Procedure for online application:
A Form 49B must be filled up online by the applicants and should be submitted. If any errors or any type of mismatch is found then the form must be rectified and re-submitted. After that the applicant will receive the confirmation screen with all the data displayed in it. Then it is needed to be confirmed or else edited by the applicants.
Acknowledgement:
After the confirmation the acknowledgement screen is displayed. This consists of the Name of applicant, Status of applicant, Contact details which include address, email and telephone number. The acknowledgement confirmation screen also consists of a unique 14 digit acknowledgment number, Payment details and the space for signature. The applicants should save and print this acknowledgement. In the acknowledgment a box is provided where signature or left thumb impression should be there. If there are applicants other than individuals then the acknowledgment must be signed by an authorized signatory with an appropriate seal or stamp. In case if left thumb impression is used then it should be attested by the Magistrate or a Notary Public or a Gazetted Officer.
Payment mode:
The charge for processing TAN application is Rs. 60 which includes the summation of Rs. 55 for application charge and 10.3% service tax. Payment can be made through cheque, demand draft or credit card. In the favor of NSDL-TIN the demand draft or the cheque will be issued. On the reverse side of the demand draft or cheque the name of the applicant or the acknowledgement confirmation must be mentioned and demand draft must be payable at Mumbai. Cheque deposit must be done in any HDFC branches across the country. Credit card payment option is not available for Statutory or Autonomous body and for the Central government or the State government.
