The Indian Railways provide different types of amenities for the passengers and to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable journey. These amenities are provided both in the train and in the station. In case of trains these amenities are provided in almost all the important mail and express trains.
The amenities in the include providing the bed rolls, providing with food and catering services, medical aids etc. in the stations the services include the catering services in the refreshment rooms and stalls of IRCTC, using the cloak room to keep the luggage and the waiting room to take rest in case of break journey etc. the transit accommodation is also one among the amenities of the Indian Railways.
Other than this the Indian Railways also have certain extra amenities for the passengers. The 150 ‘A class’ stations have been acknowledged for rendering booths having a salient pictorial sign that help is to be had to physically challenged persons. Stretchers are wheel chairs are available for physically challenged persons and also for the use of sick and aged passengers at some selected stations. To make these facilities available the passengers or the escorts of the physically challenged persons can contact the Station Managers or the officials of the RPF Assistance Posts.
In some important stations the other facilities available are Medical Shops, Book Shops, Post and Telegraph offices, Tourist Information Centers etc.
