Passport Number is issued to the citizens of India for the purpose of their international travel. The number is issued by the Consular of the Passport and the Visa (CPV) division that belongs to the ministry of the external affairs. It acts as the central passport organization and these are issued from 33 locations across the country and from the 160 Indian missions.
The various types of passports are regular, diplomatic and official. These passports have the identity information on both front and back cover ends and these pages are laminated to avoid any modifications. The standard passport format includes the name of the issuing country on a passport cover, national symbol and description of the document. They also have the numerical or alphanumerical designators (“serial number”) assigned by the issuing authority.

First, complete the online application and check the online application guide to get help in order to complete the online application. Print the application which consists of four pages and note down the file number generated on the application. Complete the rest of the form in BLOCK LETTERS with black or blue ballpoint pen. You need to submit the photographs according to the type of services. You should sign in the box provided for signature on the first page to the left of the photograph. If you can’t sign, then you must affix the thumb impression in which right thumb for female applicants and left thumb for male applicants. Finally, you need to submit all the documents including the name, address etc. Now your passport number will be processed and sent after all the verifications.
