Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji is a popular fast food of Pune and Mumbai in Maharashtra. This recipe has now become famous in other parts of India. The word pav bhaji has come from Portuguese word which means bread with vegetable curry. It has been originated from textile mills in Mumbai. Pav bhaji is very nutritious as it is composed of fats and carbohydrates. It is made up of mixed vegetables and dinner rolls. This is classified as snacks or fast food taken during breakfast or tiffin in the evening. Pav bhaji recipe takes 40 minutes for preparation.

Ingredients to make Pav Bhaji

Dinner rolls- 8
Chopped tomatoes- 1
Chopped onions- 3
Chopped bell pepper- 1
Chopped potato- 1
Vegetable-(cauliflower, carrot)
Peas- 1/2 cup
Pav bhaji masala- 2 tsp
Chillie powder- 1tsp
Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
Grated ginger- ½
Grated garlic- 1/2
Lemon- ½ piece
Cilantro
Vegetable oil
Salt

Procedure to cook Pav Bhaji

At first, chop the onion into pieces. Then boil the vegetables in pressure cooker and mash them nicely after draining it. Add butter to a big tawa and fry the onion with garlic and ginger. When the onions change into light brown colour, bell peppers and tomatoes are added to it.Once the mixture becomes soft, pav bhaji masala, turmeric powder, salt are added and fried for some more time. The mashed vegetables are added and the heat is turned up and the mixture is stirred well. Once the bhaji thickens, it is taken off the stove. The pavs are cut half and are coated with little butter and are roasted on a hot griddle before serving.

The Pav Bhaji is garnished with chopped coriander, onion and a thin wedge of lemon. This dish is very famous in Juhu Chowpati.
