Pondicherry Airport

Pondicherry Airport lies in the beautiful beach city of Pondicherry, also known as Puducherry. Pondicherry is the capital of Union Territory Pondicherry, in South India. Pondicherry airport is a domestic airport, with an airport code PNY. This airport is not commercially operational at present. There are several other airports in the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu has three international airports i.e. Chennai Airport, Coimbatore Airport and Trichy Airport, and other domestic airports, like Madurai Airport and Tuticorin Airport. Airports Authority of India may soon get the consent of Central government to open this airport to commercial flights, seeing the tourist traffic.

Distance to Pondicherry Airport from the city center is 7 km. Pondicherry railway station is at a distance of 7.4 km and the local bus terminus is at a distance of 6.3 km from the airport. It takes 13-20 min to reach the airport from bus terminus and railway station by car.

Geographical location of this airport is Longitude: 79° 48’ 36” E and Latitude: 11° 58’ 7” N. Airport has single runway 3983 ft long at an elevation of 118 ft.
