Rail travel concessions

The Indian railway gives concessions on different categories. These concessions are mainly travel concessions. But these travel concessions are not available for all. Those want to get these travel concessions should be eligible for the criteria. To remember these concessions are admissible on basic mail and express fares only but not on ordinary fares of passenger trains, superfast charges etc.

The travel concessions of Indian railways are available on the categories like students, sports person, guides and scouts, farmers, industrial workers, teachers, senior citizens, handicapped persons etc. the Indian Railways have drawn up Rail Travel Concession Table which shows the details of the travelers who are eligible for the concession , the amount of concession and the details. The conditions are also included in the charts if there is any for the availability of the concession.

The table for the concession or the concession charts is divided in to two parts ‘Part A’ and ‘Part B’. Part A contains the concessions which are available directly at the Reservation Booking Offices and at the Stations. Some necessary documents are also required to place t the time of booking and making the concessions available.

The Part B table contains those concessions where the passenger should approach the designated Commercial Officers of the Railway in that particular area or the Division or the Zonal headquarters. The Officers will verify the eligibility and will issue the required and necessary approval letter on the basis of which the station manager of the respective station or the booking or reservation offices will publish the concessional tickets.
