The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) comes under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It was formed to bring out the potential of the youth of the country. The RGNIYD coordinates with the other institutes of the country both at the State and the Central level.

Facilities at RGNIYD
The RGNIYD is located in about 42 acres in Sriperumbudur. The facilities available at the institute can be matched to international standards. Facilities like air-conditioned conference halls, seminar halls, classrooms, and an auditorium which can seat up to 500 people with the latest audio-visual equipments are available at the Institute. The library has a good collection of books, journals, CDs and DVDs. A computerized system is used to manage the library activities. A computer laboratory with the latest configuration of computers is also available. The Institute has facilities like hostels, lodging for guests, and boarding.
Role of RGNIYD
The Institute conducts research to identify the issues related to youths and accordingly the SHGs and CBOs are informed to tackle them. Special training is given to make the youth realize their capacity and empower them. The institute acts as a catalyst to make the youth participate in all the aspects of nation building and community development.
Divisions of RGNIYD
For effective administration of the activities of the RGNIYD there are five divisions in the institute. They are Training Orientation and Extension (TOE), Panchayat Raj Insitutions and Youth Affairs (PRIYA), Research, Evaluation and Documentation / Dissemination (READ), Social Harmony and National Unity (SHANU), and International Centre for excellence in Youth Development (ICEYD). A fifteen member executive council administers the activities of the Institution.
The RGNIYD offers Masters Degree programmes in Youth Empowerment, Career Counseling, Gender Studies, Local Governance, and Life Skills Education. A candidate with not less than 40% marks in any Bachelors Degree can apply for these courses. You may contact the following address regarding courses.
