Ravi Shastri

Ravi Shastri was born on may 27 1962. His full name is Ravishankar Jaydritha Shastri. Ravi Shastri was a strong, obdurate opening batsman and served the country for many years. In fact he started his career purely as a bowler but gradually became more of a batsman who could bowl.A pro at batting and no mug with the ball, ravi shastri can certainly be considered as one of the greatest cricketers of india.

Ravi Shastri's significant records was when he was selected in Champions of the Champions in the World Championship Of Cricket in 1985 in australia. It was in the same year that ravi shastri equalled Sir Gary Sobers record of hitting 6 sixes in an over.

Ravi Shastri's History[edit]

Ravi shastri was originally from karnataka but was born and brought up in mumbai. He played Ranji Trophy at the age of 17 years and 292 days, making him the youngest player in the history to play for mumbai. Shastri was then named on the under 19 tour of pakistan. He made his international debut when he got selected against New Zealand in the year 1980. Ravi Shastri was also selected in the 1983 world cup but spent most of the matches warming the benches.

Ravi Shastri was a long serving cricketer and one of india's best all rounders.After retiring from cricket,he made his debut as a TV commentator with the World Masters Tournament in Mumbai in March 1995. He is a very popular commentator for ESPN-Star Sports.
