Situated in the lap of the Himalayas, Rishikesh is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations of the Hindus. The four most significant holy pilgrimages of the Hindus begin at Rishikesh. This small town of the Uttaranchal is situated on the banks of the river Ganga.

How to reach Rishikesh

Railways – Rishikesh has a small railway station but it is linked with <a href="/node/64531">Haridwar</a>, the main railhead. Haridwar is well connected with all the major cities of India. Trains come from Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Varanasi and many other places.

Airways – The nearest airport is in Jolly Grant Dehradun which is 35 kilometers away from Haridwar. Planes are available from Delhi to Dehradun.

By Road – Rishikesh is just 24 kilometeres away from Haridwar. Rishikesh is also connected with Dehradun which is 47 kilometers. Buses are available from Dehradun, Agra, Chandigarh, Shimla and Delhi to Rishikesh.

In summer the maximum temperature remains 44oC and the minimum remains at 29oC. Light weight cotton clothes are ideal for the summer months. Winter is not cold with the maximum temperature remaining at 32.2oC and the minimum at 18oC. Woolens are required during the winter months.
