Sony Entertainment Television is one of the India’s most popular Hindi-language based general entertainment channel, known as SET, owned by Multi Screen Media Pvt. Ltd. a joint venture promoted by Sony Pictures Entertainment since 1995. this group includes SAB TV, SET Max, SET PIX, AXN, and Animax. These are all distributed by MSM Discovery Private Limited.

SET's programming covers genres including drama, reality, comedy, horror, Bollywood, and live events. It has most successful programs to date include Bigg Boss, an Indian adaptation of Big Brother, Aahat, Indian Idol, an adaptation of the worldwide Pop Idol format owned by Fremantle Media.

The channel tried to regain its lost ground in the Hindi general entertainment space with the launch of new dramas and shows. SET once again launched few more dramas and reality shows to gain back it's number 3 position in India. Kuchh Is Tara and the recently launched Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na remain popular among Hindi-speaking audiences.

In starting the show was hosted by popular Indian film and television personalities, Naved Jaffrey and Ravi Behl, with Jived Jaffrey, who appears as the permanent celebrity judge. The show was relaunched by Sony Entertainment Television in 2003 This dance show has become so popular on Indian television because it offers opportunity to produce special championship shows, such as kids' championships, teen championships and celebrity championships, in which various Indian celebrities.
