There are different facilities available for the passengers of Indian Railways. In case of tickets also the Railway authorities have kept in different features which are well suited for the passengers.
If the passengers of the Indian Railways lose their tickets by mistake then they have the facility of get a duplicate ticket on the payment of some respective charges. The passenger just needs to inform at the Reservation Office immediately to save himself from any fraud refund claims.
If the passenger has the confirmed or RAC ticket and if it is lost before the preparation of the chart then the passenger can get the duplicate ticket after the payment of the clerkage charge per passenger. In case of the ticket, if lost after the preparation of the chart then the passenger can get a duplicate ticket on payment of 50% of the total of the fare. But no duplicate ticket will be issued for RAC tickets after the preparation if the chart.
The charges of the duplicate ticket are refundable if the original ticket is found. The passenger will have to present both the original and the duplicate tickets and the amount will be refunded after deduction of 5% of the total amount.
In case if the ticket is torn by a child or by somehow the ticket is mutilated then the passenger can get the duplicate ticket. But this is applicable for confirmed or RAC tickets only. To get the duplicate ticket after the preparation of the Reservation Chart the passenger will have to pay 25% of the fare. Before the preparation of the chart the charges required for the duplication of the ticket remains the same in lieu of lost or misplaced tickets.
There is no facility of issuing duplicate tickets in case of maimed waitlisted tickets. Besides, refund is acceptable on torn or mutilated ticket if its authenticity and legitimacy are confirmed on the basis of particulars visible on the face of the ticket.
