Tourist Visa to India

An individual who belongs to any foreign nationality will require an Indian tourist Visa to visit India for tourism or to visit any relative. An Indian tourist visa remains valid for six months generally. However the duration of the validity of the Visa may vary depending on the applicant’s nationality. An Indian Tourist Visa is also called Travel Visa or a Visitor Visa. An individual visiting Indian will be issued a Visa, similarly when a group of at least four members visit Indian for travelling they are issued a collective tourist visa.

An Indian Tourist Visa is applied in a very simple way. The Indian Government issues Indian Tourist Visa for a temporary stay and not for permanent residency. The government will issue the visa to the foreign resident who can support his/her residency financially. Moreover the applicant is expected to return to his/her country once the validity of the Visa is over.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Tourist Visas

The immigration authority requires valid documents of the applicant in order to process the Indian Tourist Visa. The applicant needs to have a current passport which is valid for the next six months. The passport needs to have at least two blank pages. The signed application along with the photograph and the required fee needs to be submitted. Residents from Pakistan need to submit 5 photographs and an interview may be called before the government grants the Tourist Visa.

Transit Visa to India

An individual may have to cross India while visiting another country. In such a situation he/she will need a Transit Visa. The validity of a transit Visa is not more than 15 days. Only the travel ticket needs to be submitted in order to get the Transit Visa.
Spouse and Dependent Immigration

It is to be noted that a tourist Visa is given to an individual only. The spouse or a dependent of applicant will have to apply for another visa. An Indian tourist Visa does not support any dependent. This type to Visa supports temporary stay in the country.
