Universal Health Insurance Scheme of the Oriental Insurance Company is one of the important undertakings of the government of India to provide coverage to the people in the states of Haryana, Himachal, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, and Chandigarh who are living below the poverty line.
Any people who are living below the poverty line are between the age of 3 month to 65 years are eligible to take up this policy.

Personal Accident Cover
Under this plan the company will provide cover of around Rs 25,000/- for the death of the main earning head member of the family in the event of his/her death to the dependent family member.
Under this plan the insurance company is liable to provide total reimbursement to a maximum amount of Rs. 30,000/- for the hospitalization expenses to a person or the family with maximum sublimit of around Rs. 15,000/-. This total reimbursement of Rs. 30,000/- can be availed collectively or individually by the family members.
Under this plan when the earning head of the family is hospitalized in the event of any illness/accident then the company will pay an amount of Rs. 50/- per day, till the maximum period 15 days, towards the hospitalization expenses only after a waiting period of 3 days.
The claims for this policy can be settled by the Insurance Company or through the TPAs (Third Party Administrators) as specified in the schedule of the policy. Further, the claim has to be made cashless as far as possible.
