Vinod Dham (born 1950 at Pune, India) is known as the father of the Pentium (Intel processor), a fifth-generation x86 architecture microprocessor first shipped in 1993.
Education & Career
Vinod graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Delhi College of Engineering. He joined Continental Devices, a Delhi-based semiconductor company, in 1971. He pursued a masters degree in Electrical Engineering in 1975 from the University of Cincinnati completing in 1977. He worked with number of high tech companies in the US such as Intel, Nexgen, Silicon Spice and AMD. He co-founded New Path Ventures.
Important works
Vinod initially worked with NCR Corporation at Dayton, Ohio following which he joined Intel working on the Pentium chip. He was at one time the vice-president of Intel.On leaving Intel in 1995, he joined a number of startups such as NexGen (acquired by AMD) and Silicon Spice. He also co-founded New Path Ventures funded by Companies such as Nevis Networks.
