Overseas Manpower Corporation (OMC) is a limited company that was established in the year 1978 with the objective of securing placement for the Indian manpower abroad. This organization functions as a recruiting agent for the overseas companies and gets them the required manpower with the necessary skills from India.
Scope and Objective
The scope of the organization has widened since its inception in 1978. The organization also promotes joint ventures abroad along with the government and on its own. The necessary financial resources are also raised for the projects abroad. The OMC also exports traditional and non-traditional items to foreign countries. Apart from the above they also sell tickets and arrange air travels on behalf of the foreign companies, provide health and accident insurance to the manpower abroad, and provide foreign exchange to those recruited abroad. The OMC also arranges for the passport for the candidate after identifying the potential candidate for an employer.

OMC Selection Methodology
The OMC has contacts with the District Employment Exchanges and gets the necessary candidate’s CV through them and builds its own database of candidates. If there are not sufficient candidates they also advertise through appropriate media and get the candidate profiles. Once they have the profiles in hand they conduct interviews with the candidate to check their suitability to the requirement. If found suitable, a medical fitness test is conducted and then they proceed with the immigration formalities to recruit the candidate with the overseas employer.
