Nagarjuna Sagar Dam

Nagarjuna Sagar is the world’s largest dam also called man made dam located 145Kms far away from hyderabad Between the cities of Guntur and Hyderabad. It is a dam construted across the river Krishna for about 490 ft High and 16km long with 26 gates in the year 1969. It is situated in a small town called vijayapuri later derived its name from Buddist saint Acharya Nagarjuna as nagarjuna sagar . This place was ruled by Satavahanas later handovered to Ikshvaku rulers in BC 3rd century . It has a largest Hydro–Electric project in India .

It is nicely connected to all the cities in Andhra pradesh. There are many APSRTC buses that run frequently from different places to nagarjuna sagar dam.

It’s a wonderfull picnic spot one can hangout for a day and enjoy
