DY Patil Stadium is an International Cricket Stadium designed by one of the most premier architects of India, Hafeez Contractor. The official inauguration ceremony of this stadium was held on March 4th, 2008. Within one year of its establishment, this Stadium has already registered its name as one of the most prominent and spectacular stadiums in India.

This stadium holds the pride of being rated as the sixth best stadium in the World. According to a source, DY Patil Stadium is 156th biggest sports stadium in the World.

This Stadium is located at DY Patil Vidyanagar Campus in Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Infrastructure of DY Patil Stadium

DY Patil Stadium has all the facilities that an International Cricket Stadium should have. Along with that the stadium also has 9 Tennis hard courts, 4 Indoor Badminton courts and an Olympic Swimming Pool. This Stadium has a maximum sitting capacity of 55,000 spectators at a time. This is one of the largest stadiums of Maharashtra, as per its accommodation is concerned. The name of the two ends of this ground is Media end and Pavillion end.

The most specialised feature of the stadium being its Cantilever roof, avoids the need of any support. This provides the spectators of the match with an unrestricted view from any place in the arena.

Outlook of DY Patil Stadium

Being inaugurated in 2008, DY Patil Stadium has already become the home ground for the famous Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Mumbai Indians. This Stadium has hosted the final match of IPL 2008 and also 3 other IPL matches for the Mumbai Indians. Adam Gilchrist, the Skipper of the IPL team, Deccan Chargers, holds the record of scoring the fastest 100 of IPL on this ground.

How to Reach DY Patil Stadium

The DY Patil Stadium is located at Vidyanagar Campus at Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport lies close to the stadium. So flight is an easy mode of transport to reach here. No such railway station is nearer to the stadium. People can reach the stadium even by road in buses and private vehicles.
